Whitehall, New York

August 2003

Reported: 2 children while returning home hear what the describe as a "hoot" behind them. They turn around to see a 7 foot tall, hairy creature stare at them for a second, turn and walk up a steep embankment with ease. Total length of sighting approximately 15 seconds. Season: Summer, Time of day: 8:30 PM. Weather: Warm, clear, no precipitation.

Investigation Results: After interviewing subjects necessary in the investigation, I traveled to the location to discover a 4 inch diameter pine sapling twisted and broken near the base of the tree. Approximately 6 feet away was an impression in the swampy stream bed. When the leaves were pulled back it revealed a 14.5 inch impression seen in the Investigation Gallery.

Conclusion: Given the area's rich history in reports, the manner in which the incident was reported, and the physical evidence, although some of it subjective, I believe the sighting was an authentic incident, to add to the area's sighting history.
